What is a prompt?

A text input that starts a dialogue or causes the model to respond is called a prompt for a large language model (LLM). But it can also be in other formats, like an image or sound.

What is prompt engineering?

Prompt engineering is the act of making and improving input prompts so that they can help a language model give good answers.

To make sure that the model offers a good answer (instead of a generic or irrelevant one), prompt engineering is the process of making those prompts.

Step 01: Defining the Task

• Firstly you have to define your task in details.
• Be specific on what you want the AI to do, such as, summarize, generate ideas, write a paragraph, or analyze data.
• Add the reason and Predict the result.
• Sample: Do not say, write something about ISO 27001, say, write a 150 word introduction about the benefits of ISO 27001 certification to small businesses in India.

Step 02: Identifying the Inputs

• In this case, you have to check that what you give as information should be correct. Like Context, data, tone, audience or examples may be regarded as inputs.
• The higher and niche your contributions the higher the output.
• Sample: “Target group: business executives.

Step 03: Creating Detailed Prompts

• Next make your assignment and inputs structured and detailed.
• Mention the role (e.g., “You are a marketing expert”), the task, the context, and the output format (list, paragraph, table, etc.).
• Detailed Input gives you accurate results.
• For Example: [Write a list of 5 major audit steps of ISO 27001 in bullet form, and as a beginner, write like this.

Step 04: Refining the Prompts

• This is the re-improvement stage.
• Test your prompt, check the output, and either revise the text or add more information in case the response is not what you desire.
• Refinement is a process which meant to refine the answers given by the AI and make them more accurate, imaginative and closer to your intentions.
• Sample: In case the answer to the first question was too broad, make it more specific and declare it as such by stating the given problem in the case of manufacturing companies.
